Vanessa Shoblock is a Natural Resources Specialist for Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Southwest located in San Diego California.  While she’s been with NAVFAC for only three years, she’s not new to the mission and the enhanced purpose of conducting natural resources management on onshore installations.  As her career start, she served as on-site contract support for the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach Detachment Fallbrook Natural Resources Program (7 years).  Supporting Fallbrook included ESA species management, grazing program support, invasive species management, and general run of the mill tasks like rattlesnake wrangling.  She also had a soft spot for data and making leadership happy which lead to the creation and growth of Fallbrook’s Natural Resources GIS program.  In between the Navy, Vanessa also spent five years supporting the local utility, San Diego Gas and Electric, where she focused on natural resources permit compliance and managing their habitat conservation plan permits.  Currently she assists the Navy’s “Desert” installations including Fallbrook with their natural resources programs focusing on fire, management plans, GIS, and sensitive and invasive species.  In her free time, she loves exploring the deserts, skies, and hills with her husband, playing with their pets, and consuming a good book.
