Photo Contest
Thank you to everyone who stepped behind the lens and contributed to this year’s NMFWA Photo Contest. The range of images—from field work to quiet moments in wild places—made this one of the strongest showings yet.
Congratulations to our winners, and appreciation to all who took the time to capture and share what this work looks like on the ground.

Aster Flower Moth on Showy Aster
Location:
Camp Edwards, MA
Description:
The Aster Flower Moth (Schinia septentrionalis) is a severely declining species (ranked G3) closely tied to remnant barrens and grasslands. It's primary host in southern New England is the striking Showy Aster (Eurybia spectabilis), itself a declining G3 species left with isolated populations. The two make a stunning pair for a very brief window in September when the moth can typically be found resting atop the host flowers. They both thrive with military training and conservation management.
